Dr. Royer has extensive experience treating sports injuries in the Toledo area. As the team physician for a local High School Football team, Dr. Royer applies chiropractic techniques in treating sports injuries on and off the field in the Toledo area. He understands the importance of safely returning athletes to play, but the techniques he uses allows him to help people heal faster than they would without his treatments.
As a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, Dr. Royer uses the Graston Technique, Kinesio Tape and chiropractic manipulation to treat sport injuries such as sprains and strains, pulled hamstrings and common running injuries, like iliotibial band syndrome. Dr. Royer has successfully performed rehabilitation exercises for people with non-surgical ACL injuries as well. Dr. Royer was trained in Sports Medicine by the Medical Director of the US Olympic Committee, Dr. Bill Moreau. Dr. Royer is the only healthcare provider in the Toledo area that has been trained and certified in Graston Technique and Kinesio Taping, which are techniques that are used on our Olympic athletes, like Michael Phelps, and professional athletes.
Dr. Royer will evaluate gait while running and walking to help athletes prevent future injuries or recover from sport injuries they have already suffered. He will also evaluate muscle firing patterns to ensure that your muscles are firing appropriately, which can be one of the causes of muscle strains and joint sprains.
